Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your preferred settings or whether you are logged in — and to measure how people use the site so we can improve it.
As well as cookies, we use similar technologies such as pixel tags and browser storage (localStorage) for the same or related purposes. This policy covers all of these.
2. Who sets cookies on this site?
Cookies on broadbandproviders.co.uk are set either by us (first-party cookies) or by third-party services we use. We are Broadband (UK) Limited, registered in England under company number 06196255. Our registered office is 31 Berkeley Tower, 48 Westferry Circus, London E14 8RP.
3. Cookie categories
We group cookies into three categories. Only Strictly Necessary cookies are loaded without your consent. All others are blocked until you make a choice using our consent banner.
3a. Strictly Necessary
These cookies are required for the site to work. They cannot be switched off.
- laravel_session — keeps your browsing session active while you are on the site. Expires at the end of your session.
- XSRF-TOKEN — a security token that protects forms from cross-site request forgery attacks. Expires at the end of your session.
- postcode — caches the postcode you entered so that results pages work correctly. Session or short-lived persistent.
3b. Analytics & Performance
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the site. The data is aggregated and not used to identify individuals. They are only loaded after you accept analytics cookies.
- _ga — set by Google Analytics to distinguish users. Expires after 2 years.
- _gid — set by Google Analytics to distinguish users within a 24-hour window. Expires after 24 hours.
- _clck — set by Microsoft Clarity to identify a unique user across sessions. Expires after 1 year.
- _clsk — set by Microsoft Clarity to identify a unique session. Expires after 1 day.
- bbuk — stores your most recent broadband speed-test result so it can be displayed on your next visit. Expires after 1 month.
- quiz-{QuestionID} — remembers the answers you gave in our end-of-contract quiz so you do not have to repeat them. Expires after 365 days.
Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy. Microsoft Clarity data is processed in accordance with Microsoft's privacy policy.
3c. Marketing & Affiliate
These cookies are set by our affiliate partner Decision Technologies Limited to record when you click through to a broadband provider and to verify any subsequent sale. This is how we get paid when you take out a deal. They are only loaded after you give explicit consent.
- trk — affiliate click tracking token set by Decision Technologies.
- sid — session identifier used by Decision Technologies to link a click to a sale.
- c1, c2, c3 — attribution codes passed by Decision Technologies to record the source of a sale.
These cookies are subject to Decision Technologies' privacy policy.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell data collected via cookies to third parties.
- We do not use persistent tracking cookies to build a profile of you across other websites.
- We do not store your full IP address in our analytics systems.
- We do not use cookies for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Managing your cookie choices
You can change your preferences at any time using the button below. This will reopen the consent banner where you can accept, reject, or customise which categories of cookie are set.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block, delete or receive warnings before cookies are set. Please note that blocking all cookies may prevent some parts of the site from working correctly — in particular, postcode lookups and results pages depend on strictly necessary cookies to function.

6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add new third-party services or change how we use existing ones. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last reviewed. Significant changes will be brought to your attention via a notice on the site.
